Dear Fishing Friends,
This year will be another good one on
the Big Hole, Beaverhead, and Jefferson rivers. As we have in the
past, we will again be offering side excursions to the Madison and
Missouri Rivers. These are among the finest fly fishing rivers in
America.
Our
season on the Big Hole starts
in May
with excellent streamer fishing and in some years a fabulous hatch
of Mother's Day caddis. The Beaverhead usually starts out well with
great streamer and nymph fishing.
June
brings the Salmon Fly hatch which starts around the 10th and goes
on for a couple of weeks. Caddis hatches abound and streamer fishing
continues to produce in June. The best month of the year to catch
a large brown on a dry fly.
July
is easily the most consistent month of the year on the Big Hole with
good fishing using medium and small drys and nymphs. PMD's and other
mayflies start to become a big factor. Caddis continue to work great
on both the Beaverhead and Big Hole Rivers.
With
August come the tricos and grasshoppers.
As flows decrease the fishing sometimes becomes more demanding, but
can be very rewarding. The crane flies put in their appearance on
the Beaverhead in August, making for wild action at times with big
fish. Another terrific caddis month on the Beaverhead.
In September the
hoppers and tricos continue, and at times, nymphing becomes the method
of choice. The Jefferson starts to come into its best period now with
the lowering temperatures.
Nymphing becomes the preferred method in October,
although the Beaverhead still can have good grasshopper flyfishing.
The Jefferson often has good streamer and nymph fishing at this time
of year as well.
Call now for reservations.
